Handcrafted Bentwood Ring
*We highly recommend getting your ring professionally sized before ordering.*
Made from Bloodwood and Beetle Kill Pine, this handcrafted wood ring is as one of a kind as the trees it comes from. It's an opportunity to wear a true piece of art on your hand each day.
Though we tend to look at wood for its aesthetics, knowing the history of the wood as a tree brings it closer to home and gives it a deeper significance.
The Bloodwood on this ring comes from South America. Though the wood gets its name from the deep hue of red, the tree is literally a source of life for native peoples as the tree produces a nourishing, milk-like sap that is used to feed to infants when mothers are unable to produce milk.
Beetle Kill Pine
Beetle Kill Pine has a unique life and death story of its own. The wood used in these rings comes from South Dakota, where the Ponderosa Pines are infested with beetle larvae. The beetles lay their eggs under the bark of the pine trees and emit a blue-green-gray fungus which protects the larvae but ultimately kills the tree. The wood, however, is still intact and is sought after for its unique colorations. There is no other wood like it in the world.
